Building a Home for Filipino Culture in BC
Mabuhay House Society is seeking dedicated and visionary community members to join our Board of Directors.
As a non-profit organization working toward the creation of a Filipino Cultural Centre in British Columbia, our Board plays a vital role in guiding our mission, strengthening community partnerships, and advancing Filipino representation in arts, culture, and public life.

What We’re Looking For
We welcome individuals with diverse backgrounds, lived experiences, and skill sets who share our commitment to community building and collective leadership.
Experience in the following areas is especially valuable:
Non-profit or charitable governance
Community engagement and organizing
Arts, culture, and heritage programming
Finance, fundraising, or grant development
Human resources, legal affairs, or policy work
Strategic planning or communications
Ideal candidates are passionate about Filipino community development and committed to strengthening the cultural presence of Filipinos across Metro Vancouver and British Columbia.
Eligibility
To be eligible for nomination:
You must be 19 years or older
You must be willing to serve a two-year volunteer term
You must uphold Mabuhay House Society’s mission and values
Board Member Commitment
Board members are expected to:
Attend regular board and committee meetings (approx. 12 -15 hours per month)
Contribute to strategic planning, policy discussions, and community advocacy
Support fundraising, public engagement, and partnership initiatives
Act as ambassadors for Mabuhay House in the wider community

Selection Process & Timeline
Applications will be reviewed by the Mabuhay House Nomination Committee
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for one or two interviews
Final recommendations will be presented to the current Board
Successful candidates will be elected during our Annual General Meeting (AGM) in (Jan or March 2026—TBD)

Our Vision, Your Impact
The Provincial Filipino Cultural Centre will be a vibrant hub for cultural exchange, learning, and community events. It will reflect the richness of Filipino heritage, showcasing our art, language, food, and traditions. As we expand the scope of the project, our next steps include:
Finalizing the site selection and securing the land
Collaborating with architects and community stakeholders to design a state-of-the-art facility
Launching major capital campaigns to secure the funding necessary to bring this vision to life
Engaging with the Filipino community across the province to ensure that the Centre reflects the diverse voices and needs of our people
